So what's so good to have software designed by professionals? Windows is "designed by pros" and yet it's still a piece of junk.
Agree ... but one could ask if they are professionals since they designed it the way they did 8-)
Remember the demonstrator is hired to make Mac OSX to seem superior over all other software, but if you ever take a look at the specs for OSX it may scare you. Hardware requirements are very high.
I hope I don't get anyone upset here by saying this: I've started to use Unix 15-17 years ago but the last 8-10 years my main computer have been a Mac. I recently got a PC at home and have installed Linux on it since I need a Unix machine (and not a Windows machine 8-). This have been my first experiences with a GUI like KDE/Gnome and I must say that although they work very nicely many of the program lack a bit of ... what should I say ... polish. It's like running the programs that were available for the Mac in -90. However, I'm sure that this will improve. In other areas Linux are superior to Mac/Windows. What I will find interesting is to see if Apple manage to get the best things of both worlds (within reasons) or if it becomes the other way around. And no, I haven't installed OS X yet, I'm waiting for the "real" release, but when I tried an earlier version it was nice to have a fairly OK desktop and at the same time being able to write "ls" etc 8-) So my guess is that OS X will inspire other Unix/Linux versions to improve their UIs but who will "win" ... well, do we have to have a winner? <p> jem -- Jan Erik Moström mailto:jem@mostrom.pp.se Free Elektron http://www.mostrom.pp.se/folk/jem/
