[SLE] update NFS install base?
good day all ... i have an nfs'ed 6.3 install server setup. what i'm wondering about is whether there is an 'easy' way to get the latest updates from suse into my install base. something like rsync might work if suse had rsyncd running. -- -- michael -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

What about an ftp update? That would probably work in this sort of situation. I believe last will let you browse ftp update site and pick the rpms you want to update. Or alternatively you could just download them all to a temp directory and do a 'rpm -Uvh *.rpm' Hope that helps, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

hmmm .... will mirror let me merge the ftp.suse.com:/.../update/ directory tree ontop of my local:/.../6.3/ directory tree and will suse install correctly from this merged source tree? -- michael On Sat, Feb 26, Brad Shelton wrote:

Since the update directory structure is not always the same as the original install tree, it may not be auto-magic, but you can probably figure out how. I just mirror them separately. that way, I have the updates in the proper place when I need them. I kind of like to have the original tree in place so I can 'fall back' to it if it becomes necessary for some reasons, or other. -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
