Hi everyone. We are trying to install an Epson Stylus Colour 760 Printer which Yast2 identifies but will not install. On calling apsfilter.setup after pressing the Yast2 'Test' button we get an error saying that the apsfilter call was unsuccessful. I am having the same problem with an Epson Stylus 740. Does anyone know how to get it working? Am I missing something? Thanks, Geordon At 11:03 AM 10/2/00, SCC wrote:

I had problems with configuring an Epson Stylus 440 with YaST a while back also. I finally managed to get it working by using the native apsfilter setup tool under /var/lib/apsfilter. YMMV. To all those using Epson Printers...Mine works brilliantly on Linux.!! It is also used from our other Linus systems as a network printer. Do the following. Open YAST1 (forget yast2) Into System Admin -> Integrate Hardware -> Configure Printers -- > Append/Overwrite your choice... Space to select Colour printer Printer Type OTHER Select epsonc from the list Select A4 from the paper format (or letter if you are in the states, A4 for the rest of the world) <politics> Why is it that the US is out of step with the rest of the world?!! </politics> Connect to port Parallel/Serial etc Install. For remotre printers again use Yast1 and administer Remote Printer. Put the names of the nodes allowed to access the printer in /etc/hosts.lpd eg ShallowThought.microsoft.net Now for usb printers I am not sure but probably link the device manually in /etc/printcap after the file has been created. That stage hould be straight forward. This worked perfectly for me!! Regards, Bruce.

I am getting exactly the same problem with my 740, It all goes well until the apsfilter message. Funnily enough it worked super with 6.4 ( to my amazement ). I am using it on a USB cable. no idea what or how to sort this. dids -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
