Dear my friends, I need to utilize talk in my office. but I don't know how to configure talk. This is the first time for me to use this talk software. If I just execute : "talk" in the console menu than I will find this error message : " [No connection yet] ___________________________________________ [error on read from talk daemon : Connection refused. Press any key]--- " I know that I have to configure talk-server (talk daemon) firstly. I know because there must be a software which working as a daemon to listen the call from another station. But I don't something usable in "/etc" directory. I thought there should something like this "/etc/talk.conf" and may be I can launch the talk daemon like this "talk-server" in the console line. But nothing I found. Please tell me, where I should start from to configure "talk" and "xtalk" TAC __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Talk is initiated by inetd. Make sure you have inetd installed as well as the talk server. You then need to enable the talk server: Look for a line like: talk dgram udp wait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.talkd in /etc/inetd.conf and uncomment it. You will then need to restart inetd: rcinetd restart you should then be able to use talk, Justin -- Justin Davies - Linux Administrator Cinesite Europe Ltd. Useful feature, that. -- Marus J. Ranum, Digital Equipment Corporation
