[opensuse] Creating a Server
Hello All I have installed OpenSuse 11.0 yesterday - one of the smoothest installation ever! I can see Windows going to be in trouble soon. You guys did a super job. Here is what I am trying to achieve: 1. I want to create a server running - mail & web=20 2. I have a Linksys Router - WRT54G - my machine is hardwired to the router 3. I have a couple of static IP addresses - which I would like to use for my server 4. I am very impressed with Cpanel Interface which I am using to host my site with a different service provider - is there anything similar to it - as I would like to host my sites and others too 5. Since I cannot be in the office all the time - I would like to have the remote admin control over the server - what ports do I need to open in the router and how can I achieve this. I will greatly appreciate your help. I know this may have been answered zillion times over - without gettinhg mad please direct me to the right thread please. Thank you all in advance for your help Zeus Texas Austin, TX. 2. I have a Linksys Router - WRT54G - my machine is hardwired to the router Great!
3. I have a couple of static IP addresses - which I would like to use for my server Ok.
4. Might want to look at Webmin and Usermin, not the *SAME* but similar concept, and they work pretty well.
5. Since I cannot be in the office all the time - I would like to have the remote admin control over the server - what ports do I need to open in the router and how can I achieve this. You would need to forward port 22 (SSH). Take a look at www.portforward.com for more info. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Nah, they'll do what they can to survive. I just came from a horrendous implementation dry run for a new Wintendo-based system. http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/2008/20080912_JEDI_Screen_Exam.png The application ran just fine - and I'll give kudos to MS for writing a well developed IDE for allowing my staff to create such an application. It works great on Vista in fact. However... ...just try to get it (with it's dependencies) and hardware (point-of-sale, label printers, hand-held scanners, cash drawers) to work with the 50 or so Win2K systems we still have or the 150 WinXP systems we have older runtimes on, and you're in a world of hurt. I mentioned how openSUSE or SLED would be excellent for such a deployment. Regardless, no one wanted to hear about another OS. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.perfectreign.com Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it. - Dee Hock -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
