I have a Creative USB webcam and a Haupage TV-card. My problem is how to switch between them so I get the one I want to use. The TV-card is the one active in programs like xawtv and videodog most of the time. But if I boot into windows to use the webcam it is the one active when I boot into Linux the next time. The only way I've found to get the TV-card active again is to shut down, disconnect the webcam and restart. There must be a way to solve this. Probably something to do with /dev/video but I don't want to muck about with it without knowing what I do. Thankfull for any help. I think you can choose which using /dev/video0 or /dev/video1. ----- Mensaje original ----- De: "Olle Viksten" <olle@viksten.com> Para: <suse-linux-e@suse.com>; <linux-users@linux.nf> Enviado: martes, 12 de febrero de 2002 16:34 Asunto: [SLE] Webcam and TV-card how do I switch? : I have a Creative USB webcam and a Haupage TV-card. : : My problem is how to switch between them so I get the one I want to use. : : The TV-card is the one active in programs like xawtv and videodog most of the : time. Olle I have this exact same problem. Under Mandrake it wasn't a problem, as the USB devices loaded after the PCI devices. But for some reason in SuSE USB devices seem to get priority in being configured. It would seem to me that detachable devices should load after PCI devices. This way you will almost always end up with devices that are always connected in the same place in the device tree. As it stands now, when the camera is connected first, it gets loaded first and the tv card doesn't even get loaded without being modprobed alive. It is a real pain in the rear, especially since I have to have two XAWTV configurations for the same devices.
I guess it is time to start digging in the startup scripts to see where this happens.
