After completing the kernel build, what should be done with the System.map file?
This is what I did: copy System.map from /usr/src/linux-2.4.16.SuSE to /boot and rename System.map-2.4.16 This at least doesn't overwrite any existing files and may do something useful. I'm afraid I've forgotten why I thought I should do this. I just followed what I'd logged in previous successful kernel builds. JDL Dale Appleseth wrote:

Thanks for all your replys. With the 2.4.16 kernel, has anybody else noticed modules missing during boot time? I'm missing the following mods... Can't locate module vfat Can't locate module char-major-116 Can't locate module net-pf-10 Can't locate module sound-slot-0 Can't locate module sound-service-0-6 Thanks, Dale.
