[opensuse] static network bridge does not work on 13.1
Hi, I have a fresh install of 13.1 with the XEN hypervisor and it has all the updates. No custom repositories. Because of a bug[1] in yast-lan i have to set things manually. My question relates to setting ifcfg-br0 in such a way that i have a static IP. That gives some trouble so i hope someone here can help me since google and the ifcfg-template don't give me any clues as to why things are not working. This is the standard ifcfg-br0: vitruvius:/etc/sysconfig/network # cat ifcfg-br0 BOOTPROTO='dhcp' BRIDGE='yes' BRIDGE_FORWARDDELAY='0' BRIDGE_PORTS='enp1s10' BRIDGE_STP='off' BROADCAST='' ETHTOOL_OPTIONS='' IPADDR='' MTU='' NETMASK='' NETWORK='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='auto' USERCONTROL='no' I alter the file to the following: vitruvius:/etc/sysconfig/network # cat ifcfg-br0 BOOTPROTO='static' BRIDGE='yes' BRIDGE_FORWARDDELAY='0' BRIDGE_PORTS='enp1s10' BRIDGE_STP='off' BROADCAST='' ETHTOOL_OPTIONS='' IPADDR='192.168.178.200' MTU='' NETMASK='255.255.255.0' NETWORK='192.168.178.0' GATEWAY='192.168.178.1' DNS1='212.54.40.25' DNS2='212.54.35.25' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='auto' USERCONTROL='no' My (unchanged) ifcfg-enp1s10 file reads: vitruvius:/etc/sysconfig/network # cat ifcfg-enp1s10 BOOTPROTO='static' BROADCAST='' ETHTOOL_OPTIONS='' IPADDR='0.0.0.0/32' MTU='' NAME='RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet' NETMASK='' NETWORK='' PREFIXLEN='' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='auto' USERCONTROL='no' When i use the edited ifcfg-br0, i can ping to my router, but i can't get beyond that. So I'm doing something wrong for sure, but what, where. Can someone please shed some light on this matter? many thanks in advance. kind regards, Natasha [1]: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=846813 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
