I'm adding a disc to my old scsi bus, and having been through the multi-disc howto, I'm getting ready to revise the partitioning rather drastically. I'm curious what folks here have found they need for space in various filesystems with 9.2. I'm not concerned with data storage, for images, music, games or whatnot; I'll be adding some large ide disc space for that later. But I will be setting up plenty of font space for LyX. With my two scsi discs, I've got 9 + 18 = 27G total. I'd appreciate any reports on your usage in these: /usr/lib/ /usr/X11R6/ /usr/src/ /opt/ (various packages, say, KDE, Mozilla, Gimp, Open Office) /var/ (tmp, cache, esp fonts) / Or maybe the sizes of all the various packages is listed somewhere; I haven't found it in my 9.2 CDs yet, but maybe I just haven't looked at the right place. And yes, I'll probably want to break down and get a DVD player and the 9.2 DVDs. I realize things like mail and news spools are too site dependant to rate comment here. But any rants you have about areas I've not mentioned that you think rate a comment would also be welcome... :) TIA, Jim
