I've had my system completely crash after all 6 GB of ram was taken up by these memory leaks. Xorg has some issue with pixmaps that may have something to do with the buggy radeon kernel driver, and plasma-desktop should release memory once an activity is closed or widget is closed.
If you believe you have a problem with Xorg, you could try switching to this repro: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_13.1/ as it is much later than what came with 13.1 and solves all the problems I've ever had with the Radeon driver (none of which exhibited themselves as memory leaks). Just add that repro, allow vendor change, (for one run only). I'm not seeing these leaks you claim to be finding, so I don't think you can lay that baby at KDE's door. My machine runs for days on end. I disagree with your statement that it is safe to say KDE 4 leaks. If It did, I'd be seeing symptoms. I run it 24/7, often with some large memory demands. -- Explain again the part about rm -rf / -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

+1 My 13.1/64 machine has been up 16 days, logged in with KDE all that time and no memory problems. Firefox is my memory hog, but then I have about 50 tabs ... Firefox and Thunderbird are so way ahead of Xorg in memory consumption that it doesn't matter. -- "The Air Force is reacting to the EPA ban on CFC's by replacing them in the cooling systems of the ICBMs. If they are ever fired, it will be an environmentally friendly nuclear holocaust, not threatening the Ozone layer." -- _Access to Energy_, July 1993 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
