Apparently, if you have anything that is not a hard drive or CD-ROM attached to the secondary IDE port, this will happen. I have always had this "problem" with my ATAPI tape drive attached to the 2nd IDE port. This "problem" also manifested itself when I had my ATAPI Zip drive attached there. Strangely, though, I moved my ATAPI Zip to my computer at work and attached it to the secondary port and that computer doesn't have this problem (it's an HP Vectra VL). So maybe it's something related to the BIOS. Anyway, it's just a minor annoyance as it doesn't seem to affect performance in any way. Same problem here, my hard drive light never turns off. Don't have I don't have this problem in Windows 95. Running a Pentium 2 233, with a 5.1g western digital UDMA hard drive and its an Acer mother board with the LX chip set. Running SuSE 5.2.. Just to let ya know that this isn't standard, I don't have this problem. I'm running a FIC 2007 MB, K6-233, and a Quantum Fireball HD.
