Hmmm. I updated my list (using Synaptic) and searched for Gnumeric. My gnumeric entry still says it's version 1.2.1-100.SuSE.ulb. I am admittedly new at this APT stuff. Is there something else I need to do to get an updated list of packages? Don Henson

Don, the apt repository is not updated instantly, it takes some time to get every time synced. If you try now the update gnumeric will be presented to you :) -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

OK. I found it and downloaded it. It's been making requested changes for about twenty minutes now. (Should it be taking that long?) As a general rule, then, when someone announces an update, I should wait, say 24 hours, before trying to update. Right? Don Henson

The repository is synced every 6 hours! That makes a max waiting time of 6 hours. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

This is not true for usr-local-bin, which is mirrored every 12 hours. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

Yes, you need to wait for the APT maintainers to update the repository :) -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0).
