[opensuse] BIND error??
Hi all, Installed 11.1 as simple text-only server install. While configuring DDNS (which I always do by hand, as described in /usr/share/doc/packages/dhcp-server/DDNS-howto.txt) I got next error: server01:~ # rcnamed start Starting name server BIND /etc/named.conf.include:13: open: /etc/named.keys: file not found skipped server01:~ # The file /etc/named.keys is there, it has same permissions as on the old (9.2) install that was previously running on the server: server01:/etc # l named.keys -rw-r----- 1 root named 211 2008-12-25 15:16 named.keys server01:/etc # First I thought something might have gone wrong while generating named.keys, because it took longer than I expected (+ 2 minutes), but when I reran genDDNSkey, I got the message, that it already existed. I then used --force to regenerate named.keys, just to be sure, but to no avail. Anybody have any idea what could be wrong?? Yes, was doing that in the meantime (checking the chroot-dir). The file was not copied to /var/lib/named/etc, which is the chroot. Putting it there solved it.

Then the problem is finding out why the init script did not copy it there. Are you using rcnamed start? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Yes.
Is it listed in the variable NAMED_CONF_INCLUDE_FILES set in the /etc/sysconfig/named file? Yes, that is all correct. Been doing this over versions of openSUSE from the last few years this way many times. Looking in /etc/init.d/named shows a block of code between comments, showing: OLD --- Copies only include files mentioned in NAMED_CONF_INCLUDE A bit lower it says: NEW --- Copy complete /etc/named.d dir. Bug: bnc#408145. I looked up this bug in bugzilla, but I (not being a programmer) do not exactly understand what is going on or why it is done. But apparantly my way of doing the config of named/dhcp seems to be affected here.
