As far as I can see on my system, MySQL expects 'mysql.sock' to be in /tmp My /tmp/mysql.sock looks like this: srwxrwxrwx 1 mysql daemon 0 2003-03-01 14:46 mysql.sock What have you got? Best regards :o) Johnny :o)

Did you install the version packaged with SuSE? If so, remove them using yast2. Download and install rpms from mysql.coml.
I always have problems with SuSE's mysql rpms too.

I suggest reading a MYSQL setup book.
