I have been using a Matrox G450 for a few months now, and didn't notice any problems (Except for the ones I had in XF86Config), untill I started playing UT. I am able to play for quite a while, but in the time I am playing I hear minor beeps that come from the case. My guess is that its getting too hot, but then again, I am not sure. After a few games it just locks up, totally freezes on me and forces me to reset. Normally its not a problem but fsck on a 45Gig Drive is worse then watching mold grow in a hospital. I got curious and checked my UT logs for anything. Nothing showed there, so my next step was /var/log/messages. I found buried in there near when I crashed: Jun 1 22:59:24 office kernel: [drm:mga_dma_quiescent] *ERROR* irqs: 0 wanted 0 Jun 1 22:59:24 office kernel: [drm:mga_dma_quiescent] *ERROR* lockup Jun 1 22:59:34 office kernel: [drm:mga_dma_quiescent] *ERROR* irqs: 0 wanted 0 Jun 1 22:59:34 office kernel: [drm:mga_dma_quiescent] *ERROR* lockup except there was numbers after irqs: and wanted was still 0, I checked proc, interrupts and realized my Vid and USB were taking the same IRQ, so I went to the BIOS and removed the assign IRWs for the VGA and USB, and started back up. Once I did that I got the error messages listed above. It happens when X starts, and thats it, untill UT causes the box to die. I upgraded the mga.o and mga_hal.0 drivers from Matrox, and still get the new error. Re did my XF86Config file with nothing but what I need to run smoothly, and I still get the error. What could I have missed here? If you need to see my XF86Config, lemme know and I will send that on privately or if requested by the list, publicly. ~Robert K Davies
