I just got a warning from seamonkey that “Java™ Plug-in 1.6.0_32” causes stability problems, so I have removed all java rpms from the system, then installed again the one from Sun - now firefox says there is no java in the system. But the link is there: /home/cer/.mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so -> /usr/java/default/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so* Also javascript has disappeared - I don't know if I have to install something else. I know that java and javscript are different things, but I don't know ho they are supposed to be installed now. I need java from Sun and updated, so I can not use the openSUSE suplied rpms. Invalid. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Ok, found the problem. The addon "java" is disabled because of that security warning, it says I have to update it. But I can not find a link to update version 1.6, only 1.7. I need 1.6. Where can I find an updated version of it? Or has the 1.6 series disappeared and we have all to use the 1.7 series instead? - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Found it. <http://java.com/en/download/manual_v6.jsp> And I got it working. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. I have from that link: "Your Java version: Version 6 Update 24" And have no crashes. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Now after I upgraded to 12.1 I have a related problem. I have again installed jre: Telcontar:~ # l /usr/java/ total 8 drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 51 Aug 21 08:29 ./ drwxr-xr-x 18 root root 4096 Aug 21 08:29 ../ lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Aug 21 08:29 default -> /usr/java/latest/ drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Aug 21 08:29 jre1.6.0_33/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 Aug 21 08:29 latest -> /usr/java/jre1.6.0_33/ And firefox plugin points to the correct place: cer@Telcontar:~> l ~/.mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 cer users 39 Jun 6 23:26 /home/cer/.mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so -> /usr/java/default/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so* Buf firefox “about:plugins” lists both: IcedTea-Web Plugin (using IcedTea-Web 1.2.1 (suse-10.1-x86_64)) File: IcedTeaPlugin.so Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_33 File: libnpjp2.so However, the test page fails saying that the icedtea plugin failed, and it subsequently crashes FF. Where is that icedtea plugin installed, so that I can delete it? So far, I have disabled it in the add-on page, and now the test page succeeds. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
