Yet another reason to do a clean install of 7.3
I thought I pass on this observation... I have installed SuSe 7.3 twice (on different machines) as an upgrade to 7.2, and twice as a clean install. When I did the upgrade, there were several options missing in YaST2, including the NFS server/client setup tools and NIS tools under Advanced Networking. The appeared only when I did a clean install. Not sure why the upgrade to YaST didn't add them, but you might want to know if you are trying to decide whether to upgrade in place to do a clean install. This is most likely because these are all YaST2 modules and they just may not be installed. Go into the setup via yast1 and take a look in the yast2 rpm's section on the cd's. I'll be you'll find that they were not installed because it just updated the installed modules. This isn't a reason to do a fresh install..it's a reason to do a custom install to make sure you have what you wish to have. It's a reason to take control and not let SuSE's install routine figure out what you need. :) Cheers! -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org -----=====-----=====-----=====-----=====----- "Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal" -AE
