It should be a ppd file like laserjet.ppd.gz. copy it to /usr/share/cups/model/downloaded/ and it should show up in the printer list when you configure it with YaST or point your browser to: http://localhost:631/ -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ken should I do it like this Copy /usr/share/cups//model/downloaded/ I'm still new at that. Thanks John
Hi, say you downloaded the ppd file to /home/your-account-name/Documents/downloads/laserjet.ppd.gz Open a shell, become root with 'su <enter>' and type your root-password (not echoed to the screen, you're typing blind) Make the directory where the downloaded file is. into your current directory. Type 'cd /home/your-user-account/Documents/downloads-or-whatever/' Copy the -.ppd.gz file to the cups directory, use 'cp laserjet.ppd.gz /usr/share/cups/model/downloaded/.' Note the final dot is important :-) Proceed as directed by the other posters. -- ------------------------------ Med venlig hilsen/Best regards Verner Kjærsgaard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not to worry, we were all new to this at one point. Let's say the name of your driver (ppd file) is ip2600.ppd.gz (I don't know the name as I am not familiar with that model), then you would do the following (all on one line): cp ip2600.ppd.gz /usr/share/cups/model/downloaded and then you should be able to configure your printer. -- Ken Schneider SuSe since Version 5.2, June 1998 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
