Today/latest php4 patch break apache2
Still investigating why the patch relesed today for php4 module broke my apache2. It's starting only without php4 module.

It segfaults because of php4-recode. Uninstall that and it will launch successfully. The changelog says "does not require php4-recode any more", not sure if that means it doesn't need it for anything or if some functionality is now gone.

It segfaults when you have php4-recode and php4-mysql installed at the same time. Each alone works, both together fails. Uninstall one and you can't reinstall it, there is a conflict with the other, so the rpms have been marked as incompatible

That's the sad truth -- php4-recode just doesn't work together with php4-mysql. See http://de2.php.net/recode Trying to make the two of them work together nevertheless will just cause breakage elsewhere. Peter
