Unofficial SuSEFAQ updates
Hi, The Unofficial SuSEFAQ has been updated. In addition to http://dinamizm.ath.cx which is the main site, the project has mirrors. If you want to make a mirror of the site by using a script or wget then please use http://susefaq.sourceforge.net as their bandwidth is definetely better than mine :-) dinamizm.ath.cx is now auto redirecting to a nearby mirror which is in sync with the main mirror http://susefaq.sf.net. Special thanks to Christopher Mahmood for the apache module location link. The auto redirecting mirrors are on an hourly update so they should get the update soon if they have not yet so be gentle please Current Unofficial SuSE FAQ Mirror List ========================================= http://susefaq.sourceforge.net http://www.smaug42.com/susefaq http://www.bmtsolutions.com/suse_faq/index.html http://www.netbulans.com/susefaq http://www.wdm.com/susefaq I have also released updated susefaq.rpm which is integrated into SuSE Help System it is fully searchable (AFAIK). This may seem trivial to some, but as an end-user with no formal training I must say that I'm more than happy that I have been able to contribute in some small way to the use of Linux and Open Source software. To be more succinct, I was pleasantly surprised when viewing the unofficial SuSE FAQ that I saw a new section for "wine" and then I noticed the name of the source of info. I at first was a bit niffed because I thought this as a form of plagerism, until I noticed the name given credit. I have been using Linux for just under 3 years and have spent most of my time learning how to run the system and config it in order to perform those tasks that I would normally to with that "other" OS. You see from my point of view, as a end-user, have things just work is very important. The difference from myself and most other end-users is that they don't have the time or desire to hack away at something and take the chance of hosing their system (as I have done before) to learn. I find a certain amount of gratitude and satisfaction by seeing a post I made to a user has made it into an FAQ. I'm glad for two reasons. A) that I can contribute and give back to a community that has been so helpful to myself, and B) to find some confirmation that my efforts are headed in the right direction - in otherwords I might be figuring this stuff out. I'm glad to see that I can help and It reaffirms my convictions as to the social aspects and positive effects of open source. Well, enough dribble and glad to be of service.
