The problem seems to be the recent update of mysql from 5.5.16 to 5.5.23. Workaround is to go back to 5.5.16. I did, and that fixed it. Thank you, Robin. Amarok launches and run the first time despite the error message. If you close it and try to re-launch it never comes back. I came back to MySQL stack 5.5.16 and it solves the issue temporary.
