Hi, I dont know if this is relevant and probably isn't much help, but I had a similar set up and although Xcdroast and K3B all worked fine I have never got KonCD to recognise my CDRW or write a disc and I have tried on 7.3,8.0 and 8.1. So it might be an idea to try these other recording programs.I hace found Xcdroast very good.
