[opensuse] HOW TO ENABLE A USER TO DOWNLOAD A HUGE FILE FROM MY LAPTOP
I created a login for a member of the project group on my laptop running SuSE 11.1 I gave him full access to my /home directory that contains the project directory. I gave him the IP address of m laptop. He tried to download a huge file for backup through ftp but the connection was closed by the host ... that I think is my laptop ... How can I enable him to download files from the directory pertinent to our shared project ? Using Yast I noticed ftp client is not installed. But in this case I need ftp server that I cannot find ... maybe I am mistaken ? are you on the same network? is your friend on Linux or windows? could you begin the dowload or fail from the beginning? from two linux boxes, best way is scp (console)/or fish (konqueror). The best ftp server is vsftp, best client filezilla (linux and windows) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Using which protocol? It is not possible to give a correct answer unless you specify which protocol is he going to use to extract the file. So I'll assume you are going to use ssh and scp, correct? There is no size limit I know of. Look up into your logs. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. but the hosted address is 0.0.0.0 which will not allow external access. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
