First off get the latest kernel update. Then switch it to use the bcm5700 driver. To do this run yast. Then goto "Network Devices", "Network Card". Go down to "Change". Select the adapter and do a "Edit" on it. Next go down to "Advanced" and select "Hardware Details". You will see the "Module Name" which should be "tg3". Change this to "bcm5700" then "OK" and save out of your settings. When you reboot the new driver will load. This is the best answer I can give with the little info you have supplied. Next time please provide OS version, kernel version, and possibly type of motherboard. Thank you, Brad Dameron SeaTab Software www.seatab.com On Wed, 2004-11-10 at 13:30, Ryan McCain wrote:
Thanks for the response. I might not be up to speed with modules, because these seems odd to me.
inside /etc/modprobe.conf is this: ######################################################################## # Aliases - specify your hardware ########################################################################
install eth0 /bin/true install eth1 /bin/true install tr0 /bin/true install scsi_hostadapter /bin/true install fb0 /bin/true
...you'll notice that the module that eth0 is supposed to be using isnt listed next to it? Is this something new in the 2.6x kernel?
However, when I do a lsmod, I get this:
tg3 75396 0
..So, I am assuming is loading somewhere. I'm not just sure where.
Any further assistance is appreciated!

Hello
I have a Dell 2650 Server that has an onboard NetXtreme BCM5703X (Broadcom) Gigabit Ethernet card. Every few days all IP connectivity will be lost to the box. If i go to the console on the box, I can
localhost and do anything locally, however, I am unable to access

network in anyway. As soon as I reboot network connectivity works fine for X amount of time, until the problems re-occurs.
Has anyone seen this? I am running SLES 9 on this box.
Thanks, Ryan
