Hmm, a few things: 1. I don't see a local loopback definition. 2. You have 41 buffer overruns on your received packets. 3. What's the output of the route command on your machine?
You may want to consider using YAST2 to set up your network one more time to see if it'll work then.

What output do you get from the route command? Do you even use DHCP on your network or do you use fixed IP addresses? Regards, Pieter Hulshoff
Hi list. I am rather new to Suse Linux and would like to know if there is a program for Linux that will make cards, banners, awards etc. ? In windoze I used a program called Print Master 12. I would much rather keep using Suse for all my needs. Thank you in advance. You probably won't find a direct equivalent but most of what you want to do can be done with StarOffice/OpenOffice with a little effort. The drawing program will allow you reasonable text and graphics layout. For cards it's easier to use the word processor two columns landscape mode. -- JDL Non enim propter gloriam, diuicias aut honores pugnamus set propter libertatem solummodo quam Nemo bonus nisi simul cum vita amittit.

No guarantees, and WINE is not the easiest thing to configure, although SuSE 9.0 does install it for you.

Have aaa look at "scribus", still in development (ver 1.1.4), but very usable and promising. A little bit older ver is on the cd's and dvd of SuSE 9.0. HTH Le Mercredi 24 Décembre 2003 07:17, Chris White a écrit :

I think Chris may be looking for something more "Wizard Based." Unfortunately the Linux world seems to still prefer fine grained control over repeatable, Q and A oriented programs. I ended up installing Win4Lin (which also requires win 98/me for its function) so that my wife and daughter can run m$ publisher. Reasonably priced and better support of a greater # of programs than found with Crossover Office (which I also own and works well for the things it does support).
I hadn't thought about that. I never have tried Wine but now it seems to be a good time to do that. Thanks Jerry.
Of course if Chris only wants to run that 1 program (Print Master) it would be worth trying it under Wine first. Thanks Carlos. I do know about hijacking threads and I can assure you this wasn't hijacked. As for the dir's above I don't have them here. I am running Suse 9.0 pro and latest upgrade of KDE. The closest I come to it was a dir for xbanner and that isn't what I was looking for. Once again thanks Carlos Cj -- Sodd's Second Law: Sooner or later, the worst possible set of circumstances is bound to occur.

I use kmail Carlos and if something is set up wrong I am not aware of it. The oringanl message I typed as new to the list ........ Hmmmm I wonder...If I had replied to all in a message and erase everything but the email address to the list and retyped everything as new would that come across as a hijacked message ? if so then that is what I think I did to get the list address and I appologize. I now have the list address in my email addresss book and that won't happen again. This message I replied to all and erased your address and just used the list. Thanks Carlos. Chris, if you will turn full headers on in kmail, you will see a line 'References:' that has the history of the thread. You are still responding to the original thread (not yours), as am I 8^( You must delete that line to start a new thread when responding to an existing message. Or, start a completely new message, not reply, by typing in new addresses, not erasing or changing existing addresses. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

Yes! That's precisely the method to hijack a thread. Regardless of the subject change, you are replying to another email, and when emails are sorted by thread yours' will still show as an answer to the original one, but with a different subject line, and with a content that is not a reply to that post. That is the definition of thread hijack. :-) The problem is, that some of us use threads to check only those subjects in which we are interested, and more or less ignore the rest: so hijacked questions will probably see less answers. Also, if some one tries to browse the web archive and find all the answers that were given to a certain question, he will have a difficult time if threads are broken.
if so then that is what I think I did to get the list address and I appologize. I now have the list address in my email addresss book and that won't happen again. This message I replied to all and erased your address and just used the list. Thanks Carlos.
Welcome. We all learn: there was a time, not too long ago, that I didn't know what hijacking a thread was. O:-) As you are using kmail, you can simply use the "reply to list" function. Also, at the bottom (using pine) I see a line saying: |> [ Note: This message contains email list management information ] Clicking there, I see a list of commands. One of them says: |> * A method to send a message to the entire list (Post). |> |> Select HERE to post a message. I suppose you should see a similar thing with kmail. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
