I recently installed 7.3 Pro on my Thinkpad T20 (Model 2647-95U) I installed from the DVD which I must say is one nice way to install. All of my past installs have been trhough ftp, so this was a really nice change. So here is the list of issues which I encountered. My first biggest issue was resolution of my external monitor. Yast2 was not able to correclt detect neither my video card nor monitor correctly. I was stuck with 1024x768@60hz. Using Sax2 I was able to configure everything manually so that I had all of the correct resoluttions, etc. I also had to manually install the Thinkpad's pointer. Next I had to add the sound card manually. This also was not detect in the inital install, but installed correctly in Yast2. Note I had to set the thinkpad option to 1 in the advanced options page. Network was the next issue. Maybe I expected to much, but after my earlier Yast1 installs (SuSE 7.2) I expected to be asked something about my network setup. Yast2 did not ask me anything about that. It did correctly set up the card, but I had to go in and manually set up dhcp. Yast2 also didn't ask me anything about inetd which I had to manually change in rc.config. I also chose to install Samba, but had to again manually set up the samba startup in rc.config. These were all relatively easy issues to handle. However I guess I expected these things to have been taken care by the installer. I really liked the overall look and feel of the installer. The folks at SuSE did a really nice job.
