[SuSE Linux] GNOME reinstall HELP !!
Hi, I didn t found the gmc ( GNOME commander )in the 6.0 distros CDs. BTW GNOME does not work anymore. I reinstalled all the packages from the GNOME series (choosing R in YAST) but now it says "libglib missing" or something like that I'd like to know if someone succeed with the new GNOME (not the one on the CDs, because this one work but gmc is not present (the file manager is not in), or how to reinstall the one fom the CDs ( it was fine after all!! I want my GNOME back !!!! ). Just an other question if I do ldconfig I got this warning: ldconfig: warning: can't open /usr/i486-linux-libc6/lib/libqimgio.so (No such file or directory), skipping Is it something you can just ignore ??? is there a way to fix this ??? aren't we using this libc6 ( aka Glibc in 6.0) or did I mixed everythings up :( !! Any clue/help/tip will be greatly appreciated, especially on getting rid of the warnings and getting GNOME back regards to all. Hi- I am running gnome 99.8 off the suse 6 rpms that are located off of gnome's web site. I downloaded all the latest, compiled glib and gtk 1.20, and have had pretty good luck with the release located there. If you use the suse 6 rpms be sure to read the notes on the page about imlib errors not loading png files correctly. I also had to download all the devel files to get things compiling correctly. The gnome version which ships with suse is rather old. Gnome 99.8 seems quite stable here. I did have to self compile glib and gtk. Note that if you want gtk it wants glib so might as well do both. Both are at www.gtk.org. GTK is a rather interesting compile here :) -- Michael E.
