Hi, I have an curious problem with my suse 6.3 system situation: one isdn line ippp0 and an ethernet connection eth0 Running Samba, Firewall 2.1, named (cache only), sendmail Local loopback dev switched off Using win98 client to browse the network When i browse the network i can't find my samba server, i do find the samba workgroup. When i try to browse the workgroup i am not able to connect to the shares. When i search for the server i can'd find it. I think the firewall is filtering more info than i would like to have. The broadcasts made by samba are filtered out? Even when i try to resolve the netbios name on the linux server i can't find it. I have reinstalled the whole samba suite whitout luck. I think i have an netbios problem. Strange enough when i switch off the firewall (firewall stop) the problem still exists, but it could be the rules stay active ?.... Does someone have similar problems and or ideas how to solve this?? In the beginning when i was not experimenting with the firewall there was an connection with the samba server.... The problem is during the last week more changes have been made hard to find out what is causing the problem. Start out by pinging the server by ip. Then ping by name. This will tell you if your network is ok and if you can resolve names correctly. -- Bob F EMail FBob@wt.net A Truly Wise Man Never Plays Leapfrog With A Unicorn... -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
