Istvan Gabor<suseuser04@lajt.hu> 13 Maio, 2010 >>> Hello:
I am searching for a vector drawing program for linux/openSUSE 11.2 similar to Adobe Illustrator. I tried openoffice.org Draw and Inkscape but it is not possible to set the page resolution in them. I want to make large posters, 150x100 cm. Is there any program I can set page resolution in? Hello, I haven't tried scribus yet. I will test it. I tried xara xtreme and it is similar to inkscape in this regards, ie. only page size can be set, not page resolution. What do you mean by page resolution for a vector graphics program? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

OK, let's see. In Adobe Illustrator when I create a document I can set the size of the page, eg. 150x100 cm and the resolution of the page, eg. 600 dpi. In this case if I import a jpeg image with 600 dpi and A4 size (something like 7000x5000 pixels) the inserted image size in the page remains proportional relative to the page. In Inkscape the default resolution is 90 dpi, if I import the same image to a 150x100 cm page, the image becomes larger than the page itself. To fix this I have to give the page size in pixels, ie. calculate how many pixels is 150x100 cm at 90 dpi. Very inconvenient. "ie. calculate how many pixels is 150x100 cm at 90 dpi" should be "ie. calculate how many pixels is 150x100 cm at 600 dpi. Eg. 150x100 cm is 5315x3543 pixels at 90 dpi and 35433x23622 pixels at 600 dpi. I can set the latter as page size but then Inkscape shows my page as it would be 1000x667 cm, and the ruler also reflects this. It is disturbing when you want to organize the objects in the page.
