adding an installation source
Warning: posting by a newbie, IQ <70. On another SuSE list, Mike Fabian announced the availability of such files as ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mfabian/8.2-i586/ebview-0.3.0-0.i586.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/mfabian/8.2-i586/foks-fpw-1.1-0.i586.rpm Wanting both (and perhaps more later from the same source), I went into YaST Control Center (of 8.2 Personal) to tell it that I wanted to add the ftp source "ftp.suse.com" and directory "/pub/people/mfabian/8.2-i586/". There was a delay, and then the error message: "Unable to create installation source from URL 'ftp://ftp.suse.com//pub/people/mfabian/8.2-i586/' "Details "ERROR(InstSrc:E_no_instsrc_on_media)" I can only guess what that might mean. Thinking that there might be just a temporary glitch with ftp.suse.com, I thereafter tried it several times over the last two days. Same (non-) result. The only variation has been the time it has taken for that error message to appear. All right then, what have I totally misunderstood this time? (Incidentally, I don't know why there's a double slash -- "com//pub" -- as the dupe arises even if I specify "ftp.suse.com" minus terminating slash. Neither do I know what effect the extra slash might have, if any.)
