I tried installing it, but it came up with a controlcenter rpm conflict. Art Paul Cooke wrote:

Look at the package list and you will see, that most of them are much older than ULB/SuSE ones. And they are making updates very rarely. I see no sense of using it. ain

I gave it a try yesterday evening without any succeed. After downloading and installing the basic Ximian Desktop 2 of 139 MB, SuSE9/KDE hung, just before finishing install of the last package. I had to restart my PC, had to boot in failsafe mode and then reboot again, before I was able to login to KDE. The only thing I could see to Ximian, was the installer which was ready for a new download, but I said NO thank to a new try, at least for now. Maybe I also have to re-install SuSE9 again(?), because several packages looked to be removed and replaced. Among others I got an older tsclient than the update install I had made. Terje J. Hanssen

I installed it on a gnome-only version of SuSE on a separate partition to give it a try and it works OK. It was around 290Mbyte. However I agree with one of the other comments in that from my brief trial, I don't see a huge advantage as to why you would want to use it over the version og gnome that came with SuSE 9.0 - although I like its update program. With the pay version you get extra fronts and that may pick things up a little, other than that I don't know and can't see either. I installed it with my main SuSE OS prior to using a separate partition and it messed up my KDE desktop by sort of joining both together. I also had difficulty in logging out of ximian when gnome-panel kept freezing for 1-2 minutes. Nev Nev
