-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm finding this strange. I'm running make modules from the kernel sources for SuSE 8.2. The kernel itself built correctly. The module build is hanging, however. The last messages on the screen are: make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.20.SuSE/fs/umsdos' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux-2.4.20.SuSE/include -Wall - -Wstrict-prototypes -Wno-trigraphs -O2 -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common - -Wno-sign-compare -finline-limit=2000 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe - -mpreferred-stack-boundary=2 -march=i586 -DMODULE -nostdinc -iwithprefix include -DKBUILD_BASENAME=dir -c -o dir.o dir.c gcc: unrecognized option `-D__KERNEL__' gcc: unrecognized option `-DMODULE' gcc: unrecognized option `-iwithprefix' gcc: unrecognized option `-DKBUILD_BASENAME=dir' At this point, the builde locks solid. It's been sitting at this point for about 4 hours, so I'm pretty sure I'm not being too impatient. Any ideas? -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAntvpjeziQOokQnARAkXjAJsHTKSbbs5QTKZUG1DfYS/u56u4hACdE6jJ OtvjyhWvu0wINB7dbRIu4eI= =Cfkm -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Only that line, or some others? Ie, what sequence of commands do you use to build kernel with modules, complete. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
