[opensuse] local update Repository - Howto make packages from openSuSE update appear as "patch"
Listmates, I have created a local update repository for my lan. The directory layout is: 18:16 nirvana:/home/backup/rpms> l openSUSE_11.0/ total 312 drwxr-xr-x 9 david dcr 4096 2009-03-27 05:57 ./ drwxr-xr-x 5 david dcr 4096 2009-03-27 16:19 ../ drwxr-xr-x 2 david dcr 65536 2009-03-27 04:48 delta/ drwxr-xr-x 2 david dcr 53248 2009-03-27 05:48 i586/ drwxr-xr-x 2 david dcr 4096 2009-03-27 04:48 i686/ drwxr-xr-x 2 david dcr 32768 2009-03-27 05:48 noarch/ drwxr-xr-x 2 david dcr 4096 2009-03-27 05:57 repodata/ drwxr-xr-x 2 david dcr 4096 2009-03-20 20:40 src/ The deltainfo.xml.gz has been tailored to the local repository and only contains information regarding delta.rpm availability for delta.rpm that are in openSUSE_11.0/delta directory. The local repository was added to client machines with zypper ar http://pathtorepo/openSUSE_11.0/ Everything works great, except..... When I try use zypper up -r local-repository, with known updates in it, it says nothing is available. But when I use zypper up -r local-repository -t package, then all the updates and other newer packages are shown just as is should be. So the question is, "How do I preserve the patch status of the rpms that are saved from the openSuSE update repository so that they get selected when I run zypper up against the local repository?" Is there a trick for this?? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
