[SLE] screensaver in KDE
Hello I have been seeing this subject fly around but I have not seen any concrete answers. I have tried power management trick along with a few others. Has anyone got a sure fire fix for this problem yet or is it just a plain ol bug we need to wait for a fix for thanks. -- LostSon http://www.lostsonsvault.org /\ \ \ \__/ \__/ \ \ (oo) (oo) \_\/~~\_/~~\_ _.-~===========~-._ (___________________) \_______/ I Want To Believe -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

I only fixed it by updating to KDE 3.5.3. -- /path/to/Truth -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
On a sideline to this topic (I probably should have used a different Subject Line) Going back to even before SUSE 9.0 I have noticed that the screen powerdown feature is intermittant. I have seen this with different monitors. Usually the screen goes black and the monitor reflects being in low power mode at the selected interval. However, once in awhile (sometimes weeks) it just doesn't work. It stops working to shutdown the screen and it just stays on all night long. A reboot always fixes it. I think also shutting down KDE and restarting fixes it as well. Has anyone else seen this and does anyone have suggestions or thoughts on this. Cheers, Bob Mike McQueen wrote:

Actually, at least in my case, upgrading to 3.5.3 didn't help at all but upgrading to 3.5.4 fixed the problem. If you're talking about the screensaver basically disappearing (no longer starting after the set allowed time), it's due to a bug in the latest official kdebase3 package (kdebase3-3.5.1-69.15). If you downgrade to kdebase3-3.5.1-69, the package delivered with 10.1 initially, your screen saver will start working again. I filed a bug report on this yesterday.
