Anyone running Zimbra server on 11.0 (open source edition)?
I've tried it and could not continue because incompatible perl version. Zimbra required Perl ver 5.8 but openSUSE 11.0 provide latest update, Perl ver. 5.10. I'm trying to downgrade perl but it has bunch dependencies issue, so, for now on, I just stay with Zimbra 5.0.8 and openSUSE 10.3 -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com/blog/index.php Blog (EN) : http://www.vavai.net Community : http://www.opensuse.or.id Commercial : http://toko.vavai.biz Email : vavai@vavai.com /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Great, thanks for the info. Any other pointers deploying Zimbra for our small company? Im trying to save our IT soul by getting Zimbra in before someone forks out our profits for an Exchange server. i.e. does Outlook play nice with it? (the open source version). Yes, I'm a happy Zimbra user since first deploy 2 years ago. I've write a small script for automated installing Zimbra on openSUSE 10.3, here : http://lizards.opensuse.org/2008/05/15/zimbra-collaboration-suite-50x-auto-i...

Yes, I have no problem while using Outlook before switching the mail client into Thunderbird and Zimbra web mail. Actually, I used Outlook for mail client only (without scheduling or task management). There is also add-on program named outlook connector. -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com/blog/index.php Blog (EN) : http://www.vavai.net Community : http://www.opensuse.or.id Commercial : http://toko.vavai.biz Email : vavai@vavai.com /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Something not quite right here... Perl is usually very good at backwards compatibility in v5 releases and as AFAIK there are very few issues with running 5.8.8 code on 5.10.x ... (However, you will run into trouble if you are using binary perl modules if the c compilers used in the compilation are different). SuSE provide the Perl modules which support the main SuSE application set quite well... However, third party SuSE RPMs of Perl Modules can be radically out of date which can cause trouble I got a very nasty surprise when I ran a module version check with cpan -O as root sometime ago and now tend to maintain Perl stuff from CPAN. It usually better to get the most recent versions from CPAN directly using the cpan tool if you are using applications which use (or developing from) Perl modules not available in the main SuSE distribution. You may need to install some development stuff to allow some things to compile correctly. - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
