[opensuse] editing mp4 file
I have downloaded an mp4 file using get_player. I would like to edit out bits of it and leave the bits I want. I don't want to demux or anything like that it plays fine as it is (VLC used). I need a tool to do this googling suggests avidmux are there alternatives ? Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I haven't tried it with MP4, but I have used Audacity for MP3 and OGG. You'll have to add an extension though. http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#ffdown -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Kdenlive I have not tried yet. In the meantime am getting some reasonable results with avidemux Mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I use gopchop. It is nice and fast since it does not decode/reencode. It lets you edit at GOP (group of picture) boundaries. It has a nice GUI to make it easy to use. -- Yours sincerely, Roger Oberholtzer Ramböll RST / Systems Office: Int +46 10-615 60 20 Mobile: Int +46 70-815 1696 roger.oberholtzer@ramboll.se ________________________________________ Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O. Exactly what I don't want. Most programmers have taken to leaving less than .5 second between program and commercial as often as not, and not infrequently cutting into program fade-in/fade-out that if limited to using boundaries often means program dialog re-started mid-sentence or mid-word after having excised all commercial frames. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Oops. I may have remembered wrong. gopchop seems to work with MPEG2 files. Still, it is a great little tool. -- Yours sincerely, Roger Oberholtzer Ramböll RST / Systems Office: Int +46 10-615 60 20 Mobile: Int +46 70-815 1696 roger.oberholtzer@ramboll.se ________________________________________ Ramböll Sverige AB Krukmakargatan 21 P.O. Seems like its very old, doesn't seem to be an openSUSE package either. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

May be. But I have it compiled/working on 12.1. I think it would also work on 12.3. Maybe I should add it on OBS.

on the OBS and quite alive! I did but can't get it to open an MP4 file when I try it says it wants a kdenlive project file. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

MP4 is a container format, you need a video editor that supports the underlying video/audio codec. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Avidemux seems to fit that bill. Been playing around with it with variable results according to which settings I use. Better read its manual and help stuff. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
