[opensuse] systemd-journal: Forwarding to syslog missed 1 messages. ?
This is a brand new 13.2+updates system - a desktop that isn't even being used. I have syslog-ng 3.6.2. According to 'man journald.conf', the default is to have 'ForwardToSyslog=yes', but with barely messages flowing (it's mostly "Forwarding to syslog missed x messages."), why are they missed? Besides, I guess this forwarding isn't needed when syslog-ng and systemd communicate using /run/systemd/journal/syslog ? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (4.1°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Probably because nothing is listening for them?

I suppose, either you setup syslog-ng to listen for journald forwarding and enable forwarding or you setup syslog-ng to pull messages on its own and disable forwarding. I do not use syslog-ng myself, with rsyslog I do not see these messages. I have a feeling this had been discussed recently, but do not remember where. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, I was leaning toward disabling the default ForwardToSyslog=yes. Seems like syslog-ng ought to do that automatically when it is installed. Does rsyslog do that?

I have a bugreport open on syslog-ng and it's hi-jacking of /dev/log, that is at least related. /Per -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
