[opensuse] Moving to ArchLinux
I am thinking of trying out ArchLinux. My servers will stay on OpenSUSE, but I feel change is good every now and then (even if its just to confirm that OpenSUSE is the best distro after all). So, anyone have experience with ArchLinux for desktop? Any major issues moving from OpenSUSE to Arch? I mainly use: Firefox (always latest beta build) Thunderbird Amarok Krusader Kate OpenOffice Manne -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I actually have used Archlinux on my laptop for quite some time. It is a very nice, slim distribution. They also have a great community. It is probably my favorite Linux distribution. It is very well suited for the experienced user, or for the new user who is willing to learn. Archlinux is a rolling release distribution, so you almost always get the latest stable packages of everything. The newest install .iso has the .28 kernel and ext4 support - one of the first distributions to support these. If you want even more bleeding edge packages, you can usually find them in the AUR (Arch User Repository). I've been playing with openSUSE lately and really like it. I think openSUSE is a great distribution to start out with. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
