I installed the SuSE rpms using Yast. I have had a number of random lock-ups which cause me to do a hard reset. Initially, I was able to start KDE2 as a user. Now I can't and I have no idea why - but it seems that a lot of weird problems have cropped up since I installed KDE2. I did notice something strange w/ regard to QT. I installed the SuSE rpms for version 2.2.1 prior to installing KDE2. Installing this version resulted in two directories: /usr/lib/qt-2.2.1 /usr/lib/qt2 The directory /usr/lib/qt2 is a link which points to /usr/lib/qt-2.2.1. HOWEVER, while in KDE2, if I enter "echo $QTDIR", I get the following: /usr/lib2/qt2 First of all, the directory lib2 does not exist. Does anyone know where this environment variable gets set for KDE2? Why is it set to a directory that doesn't get created? Are the QT rpms messed up? Should I set $QTDIR in .profile or some other config file? Anyway, I went back to KDE1 and uninstalled the QT rpms and then reinstalled them (using Yast). I get the same results. Only now, I can't use KDE2 as user. The splash screen comes up, then a smooth blank gray screen, then nothing.......??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
