Using rescue system as install image?
Hi all! Can i somehow get the 10.0 rescue boot kernel or boot system onto a harddrive to get as nice minimal system to start from? I know it lacks a few things, and is very minimal in terms of usefullness. But its the only system i have gotten to work on this specific machine. (Proliant 1600 with RAID) The rescue boot is the only thing that doesn't make the machine hang itself, so i want to try to use it as a start for the instalation. (Not even minimal, textbased, "everything off" booting helps, it still locks up while trying to install the system) I can always use yast and/or apt to upgrade/date and install the few things i will need aside from the working base system. How do i transfer what, to get it done? -- /Rikard ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- email : rikard.j@rikjoh.com web : http://www.rikjoh.com mob : +46 (0)736 19 76 25 ------------------------ Public PGP fingerprint ---------------------------- < 15 28 DF 78 67 98 B2 16 1F D3 FD C5 59 D4 B6 78 46 1C EE 56 >

I don't know if you can install the rescue system, but I've got a proliant 1600R that's running fine with SUSE 10.0. I've got a bugreport open on problems at shutdown, but that's it.

Have you: - tried a manual install? (where you load modules etc yourself). (use option: "manual=1" from lilo.) - tried Knoppix? - tried booting with acpi=off ? - opened a bugreport?

If it helps comparing notes - my box is a single CPU 450MHz, 512Mb, Compaq RAID 3200. /Per Jessen, Zürich -- http://www.spamchek.ch/ - professionelle Emailsicherheitslösung. Jetzt für 30 Tage ausprobieren - kostenlos und unverbindlich!
