First of all, make sure you have the smbd running. Simply start it with smbd -D (daemon mode) as root. For the earlier samba-versions (i.e the one shipped by suse 5.3), the way to add users is smbpasswd -a. For newer versions I think there is a command smbadduser. Then you have to set the password with the smbpasswd command (in both cases). Good luck! /Nikodemus
Hi, I have been having a bear of a time getting samba working. When I run smbstatus I get this message: Couldn't open status file /var/lock/STATUS..LCK also how do I set up the passwords and how do I set up share level access.
Any pointers to would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
