[opensuse] Leap 42.2
Is it correct that SuSE Leap 42.2 only consists of 1 DVD? Is there a "addon" DVD like some of the earlier releases had? Thx in advance BR -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, only one DVD, no "addon", has been that way for several versions going back a few years, at least. -- -Gerry Makaro aka Fraser_Bell on the forums, IRC, and mail at openSUSE.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I am updating a 13.1 machine and there was an addon CD with 13.1 . Leap 42.2 also talks about a addon-CD that I can use and that I need for getting firmware for my WLAN. Where is this addon-CD to download? BR -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Edit: tried to add the addon repo, there it wants to configure the network, but I cannot install the network since the wlan needs the firmware from the addon repo ! yast2 then crashes and gives some debug possibility which does not help me. I do change all that by taking the normal LAN network card, but if there are devices that only have WLAN and need firmware from the addon then this might result in a kind of deadlock. I guess I can download the non-oss stuff from [mirror]/opensuse/distribution/leap/42.2/repo/non-oss and simply burn it on a CD? I don't see any here: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.2/iso/ The non-oss components should be included. Indeed, I see addons for 13.2: one for "Lang", another for "Non-oss-Bi-arch". No idea what they contain. Perhaps you can create the CD yourself, looking at what was the structure on 13.1 and replicating it, downloading the packages in advance. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. I looked at the DVD structure, there is no "non-oss" directory, but neither is there an "oss" directory. So I'm unsure. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. 1. It's openSUSE 2. Yes, there's only the DVD and the NET ins tall ISO, which fits on a CD, but there's no Addon CD anymore. The distribution repos contain far too many packages to distribute through optical media (isos). 3. During install you're being offered to enable online repositories, which does not only gives you access to the non-oss repo, but also enables the update repo. Using those makes you end up with a completely up-to-date install. 4. Composing things like an Addon CD / DVD takes manpower. If someone steps up and starts doing it, I don't think there'd be any objection -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a. To get online he needs the firmware for his network hardware, which is not on the DVD. It was previously on the addon for 13.1.
