The Samsung printer is 2955DW. Worked great under previous versions of OpenSuse (12.x series). Currently running 64bit Leap 4.21 with same printer. I can setup the printer using "Configure Printers" under Hardware in YaST. The test page works and it appears the printer is working. However, when I try to print, the printer starts and then stops without printing. I can then go into YaST under Printer and "Edit" the Printer Configuration by checking the Enable Printing box. Once this is done, the printer finishes printing the file. This process has to be preformed every time I want to print. Any idea how to solve this problem.
This problem was reported as a bug by my but closed as "works for me". In reality it is a bug in Leap. I would suppose it appears when you want to try to print from Libreoffice. The printer symbol appears, then it disappears, the printer gets ready but after that does not print anything. The test page prints well. Solution: go in printer setup options, go to device options: you will see that in leap that is stubbornly set to "language of printer: automatic pdf". Your printer for being able to work will need the setting "ppd from driver" If you set this, for this job it will work instantly and in good quality. But I did not find one way to make the setting stay. So you will have to set it all the time. I would say that this is a real leap problem as the problem does not appear (as so many others) in TW. You may try and tell me if it worked. --- Alle Postfächer an einem Ort.
