Re: [S.u.S.E. Linux] Re: GNOME
yeh, that's kind of what I thought. I'm thinking maybe patience is a virtue here. I really think what they are doing is awesome, and I prefer GNOME to KDE for a bunch of reasons that I won't go into as to avoid an old saw. I might just set aside some time and get to work on it, if I do I'll post what I find out if anyone's interested. P.S. as a bit of a digression, I just built E on my machine, and I was really impressed. This is for those who occasionally inquire about Window Managers. The SPEED of E has greatly improved... and it's moving quickly into a worthy direction. I actually am liking it even better than WindowMaker. This is from the latest snapshot. 2 cents. Yes, it can be done, but gnome doesn't like libc5 much. Get ready to hack a little, and make sure all of your gnu tools like automake and gettext etc are the most recent. I would also get imlib 1.6 and make sure you enable gtk when you compile mico. You will need a newer egcs or gcc-2.8.x. I would recommend ecgs>=1.0.3a with or without the pgcc patch. Good luck, your chances are slim.

Has anyone tried compiling a Gnome snapshot on SuSE? I'm considering trying to put Gnome on my box.
