Re: [SLE] Shell script user interface utilities
Sean Akers@ROMAX 31/10/2000 15:09 Thanks guys. Dialog looks as though it will do the job I need it for. It is not as flexible as I remember the HP-UX software being but it is good enough. I might have a look at the source for this one and see if I can make any improvements or extensions (a multi field input dialog and a formatted text input dialog being the first things I think it needs). Alex I can't remember if SPECS was the package I used under HP-UX. It is such a long time ago (we're talking 1993 here) but it sounds fairly similar. I'll have to get in touch with some of my old work colleagues and see if they can remember what it was called. Unfortunately I've been working on M$ software development :-( for about 4 years now and my Unix is getting very rusty indeed. I've just begun to invest some of my spare time in trying to rekindle my Unix knowledge which has been forgotten. It's horrifying how easy it is to forget stuff that was second nature once upon a time. By the way, can anyone recommend any good books (possibly with a SuSE bias) which cover the subjects of shell scripting, awk, perl, advanced system admin (e.g. networking, sendmail/qmail/postfix, inn, security etc.) This list is really good. I hardly ever use the Usenet Linux groups any more. You get much better answers here. Not only do we have a great distribution but a great set of users too.
