Re: [SLE] Strange PPP transfer stall.
Rikard "DustPuppy" Johnels
Hi everyone. I know this has been discussed before, but i cant find the old postings.. :(
My pppd keeps "dropping" transfer peroocicaly. ie. it connects perfectly, and transfers data for a while then sits idle for e few secs and then continues. This happens periodicaly, and everytime i connect. What is the fix??
1. Try disabling Van Jacobson style TCP/IP header compression first (there are terminal controllers out there which are not compatible with the Linux way) add novj to /etc/ppp/options 2. Next you may want to try different asyncmap settings in case you are not negotiating the proper asyncmap with the other end's ppp (also set in /etc/ppp/options) But my personal choice is to change the window size by executing: /sbin/route -v add default window 4500 dev ppp0 After ppp is up and running. Linux window size is optimized for ethernet, and a small window size appears to fix the problem for me (I use telnet a lot, so using novj never really appealed to me) Hope one of these helps. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
