Every time I restart my machine (which I don't do all that often, but still often enough for this to be a pain) the mouse stops working. I have to start YaST and set the mouse up again from there using the keyboard. It keeps the old selection, and all I have to do is tab over to 'Test' and then it works fine. I've tried several different mouse selections, and all of them either do this or just don't work at all. I'm running Suse 9.3. The mouse is a USB wheel mouse from HP. Any ideas?

The only time this has happened to me it certainly puzzled me somewhat. I was scratching my head as I assume you are... It turned out to be a dying M$ Intellimouse. One of the very early ones from the mid 90's. It had given me good service but after this....oh, and it was a ps/2 not USB either. -- Take care. I had the same problem recently and posted the solution to the list http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2005-Jun/2139.html This might be the same problem/solution. C.

Yep, that fixed it! Thanks, everybody, from a relative newbie. T. Daniel

Perhaps its when the usb support is run. As I remember people with usb kb have the same issue and need to hack their run levels. Might I suggest getting a usb to ps2 converter. If that cures the problem then its the run level. Mine is converted because thats what the KVM needs. Occasionally I use an sir can to clean the lens because its an optical mouse. If your mouse has a ball check the rollers inside by removing the ball and cleaning them. -- ___ _ _ _ ____ _ _ _ | | | | [__ | | | |___ |_|_| ___] | \/
