[opensuse] Adobe Acrobat (not Reader), and Clipboard Manager equivalent in Linux
Is there a software equivalent of Adobe Acrobat (not referring to Adobe Reader; or other similar KDE/gnome equivalents-Evince, KPDF, X PDF, etc) for Linux; such that I can add comments, do some basic text edits (highlight, underline), etc to a PDF file? Also, a Clipboard Manager (such as M8 clips -http://m8software.com/clipboards/freeclip/freeclip.htm, or other similar ones) for Linux? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Short answer, no. Long answer, if you want to do some acrobatics (pun intended) then you can do it. Check: http://www.linux.com/feature/113907 It describes two programs, one of which allows you to convert your pdf to postscript, then edit the form fields and confert back. You'd think this would be an easy killer app for someone to make. Apparently, GNOME had a project called Evince, that has since stalled, and there is a product called Cabaret Stage (http://www.cabaret-solutions.com/) but I haven't tried it yet. In all honesty, what I often end up doing is loading Virtual Machine with Vista, fire up Adobe Pro and go from there. Adobe pro - even though it phones home - is a great example of user interface design. Neat, clean and functional.
Also, a Clipboard Manager (such as M8 clips -http://m8software.com/clipboards/freeclip/freeclip.htm, or other similar ones) for Linux?

pdfedit, while cumbersome, will work. It is available through either the kde:community or packman repos: 13:20 alchemy~> wp pdfedit 5 results (2 packages) found for "pdfedit" in openSUSE_110 * pdfedit: A complete pdf document editing solution - 0.4.1 [BS::KDE:/Community | packman] -- David C. Couldn't find pdfedit in any of the repo's. Will Adobe Acrobat 6 (prof) work under Wine? (but then I would need to install Wine & not quite sure how to).

I imagine it would. I just tried Cabaret. Though not perfect, it does work and does save the PDF form fields. I then opened the form in Acrobat (Wintendo), Acroread (Linux) and KPDF - the fields were still filled out accordingly. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
