Hello list. I appreciate the knowledge of this list. Many times folks here have come to my rescue. I have another situation. I have upgraded my stock version of cups to correct for a landscape printing problem. I upgraded from 1.1.15 to 1.1.18 using Yast2 from the Suse ftp site. I did a rccups stop and I updated in the following order. CUPS libs, CUPS client then CUPS ignoring conflicts then rebooted. All seemed to go well. I am confused to why I am "Forbidden" to Print a test page. I am informed that I do not have permission to access the resource on this server (while I am sitting at the server). Also when I click on the printer icon or printer link I get the same message. I can see the list of printers I have created before the upgrade, modify, start and stop, and configure and each one along with adding a printer. Everything seems to be working fine and folks can print. The location bar shows http://localhost:631/printers (etc.) as I would expect. When I attempt to print a test page or access the printer, the location bar changes to http://my server name:631/printers (etc.). My server name is the host name in the network card configuration utility. I am not sure what happened or what changed. I corrected one problem but created another. Any help is appreciated. And I hope I am clear on the description of my problem. Variation of known thing. You probably have to allow yourself access, editing the configuration file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf Allow From 127.0.0.1 Allow From 127.0.0.2 Allow From 192.168.100.2 -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

Hi Mark, Can you print from the command line? i.e. lpr <filename> The other things to check are:- a) /etc/hosts and make sure have an entry 127.0..0.1 localhost b) /etc/cups/cupsd.conf and /etc/cups/client.conf (see http://susefaq.sourceforge.net/cups.html for details) You could also try using http://127.0.0.1:631 with your browser and see if there is any difference. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
