Hi... I am trying to get koncd to run..I have no problems using xcdroast to burn cd's but using koncd I get.............. /usr/bin/readcd: No such file or directory. Cannot open 'unknown'. Cannot open SCSI driver...................... I have followed the setup and have installed the latest patches...Obviously the /usr/bin/readcd is there and the paths to the devices are there too... Any pointers to readme's etc welcome..... -- Regards Ted Wager SuSE Linux

Ok, Ted, If you are able to use XCDroast ok, then it is likely your devices and permissions are good. If KonCD can't find a file, then it is either missing, not there, not installed or gone!! ;o) I would check my paths to see that it is indeed pointing to the correct directory and then check the directory to see that the file is indeed there. That should make it easy for you! I had similar problems, what I did was: 1. cat /etc/fstab to see what the cdrw is mounting as, /dev/cdrecorder for me 2. l /dev/cdrecorder to see what it's symlinked to, /dev/sr0 for me 3. Make sure ownership is root:disk for /dev/sr0, /dev/scd0 chown root:disk /dev/sr0 chown roor:disk /dev/scd0 chmod g+rw /dev/sr0 chmod g+rw /dev/scd0 then xcdroast worked for me and didn't have your complaint below. Thanks for the reply...I have checked the links and ownership of the files and they are as you say..I checked the /usr/bin/readcd was there and it is.. (xcdroast is ok).......Koncd still gives the same error message....

I had the same error message as you until I followed some suggestions I recieved from people on this board. To be honest, I am not sure which suggestion did the trick. 1) change sym link of writer from /dev/scd* to /dev/sr*. Do like wise for your reader if you are using scsi emulation for it. 2) Add yourself to the disk group. After I did these two things, I was able to burn using the create image method. I still cannot burn on the fly using koncd. Both KreateCD and xcdroast work perfectly though.
